I Want To Change The GATE Exam Center. What Is The Procedure?

The Procedure To Change The Exam Centre for GATE

Chandigarh: GATE examination is a standardized test conducted to understand various undergraduate subjects. The Gate scores are used as admission criteria for post graduation programs such as M. E, M. Tech. The eligibility criteria for appearing  the GATE examination is a Bachelors degree in engineering or architecture or an equivalent degree from a  recognized university. Master’s degree in Science or Computer Application or an equivalent degree from a recognized university. The candidates those are in the final year of such programs can also appear for the GATE test.


Candidates looking forward to appearing for GATE examination are required to fill the form for the examination.  The Application forms are available online, and one can easily fill the online form. The information required for filing the application form is available on the Application Procedure link.  The scanned file of your photograph, signature, eligibility certificate, experience certificate, category certificate are some of the required documents for filling the form.


Candidates appearing for the GATE Exam can change their examination centers that were chosen earlier during  the filling of the application. The applicants were allowed to select the test centers while filling the application forms.


However, due to some reason, if the candidate wants to change the test center, they can change by following the below listed steps:

The candidate would have to send a demand draft of Rs 400 to the IIT  for changing the earlier chosen  GATE examination city.

1. The demand draft has to be drawn in favor of Chairman, GATE payable at IIT(conductiong college Ex: Kanpur).
2. At the top of the envelope, the applicant needs to write: “Change of GATE Exam City.”
3. Chairperson, GATE, IIT (Conducting College), City-Pincode is the address where the demand draft as to be sent.
4. Normally, November 21 is the last date for sending the written request for a change of city for GATE Exam along with the written request.
