GATE Electronics and Communications Engg. ECE (EC) Syllabus

Syllabus for Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC) Mathematics Syllabus:
  • Linear Algebra: The linear equation is taught.
  • Calculus: The theorems are taught.
  • Differential equations: the difference of the equation is taught.
  • Complex variables:, Cauchy's integral theorem and integral formula, Residue theorem, Taylor's and Laurent' series, Analytic functions, solution integrals.
  • Statistics and Probability
  • Numerical Methods: single and multi-step methods for differential equations, Solutions of nonlinear algebraic equations.
  • Transform Theory: Z-transform, Laplace transform, Fourier transform.

Electronics and Communication Engineering Syllabus:
  • Network Theorems: 2-port network parameters: driving point and transfer functions. State equations for networks.
  • Network Graphs: incidence, fundamental cut set, and fundamental circuit matrices, matrices associated with graphs.
  • Solution methods: nodal and mesh analysis.
  • Electronic Devices: Energy bands in silicon, intrinsic and extrinsic silicon.
  • Carrier transport in silicon
  • Device Technology: Oxidation, integrated circuits fabrication process, diffusion, photolithography, ion implantation, p-tub, n-tub and twin-tub CMOS process.
  • Amplifiers: The frequencies of different devices have dealt with it.
  • Analog Circuits: BJTs, Small Signal Equivalent circuits of diodes,  MOSFETs and analog CMOS. Biasing and bias stability of FET amplifiers and transistor. Simple diode circuits, clamping, clipping, rectifier.
  • Sequential Circuits: counters, latches and flip-flops,and shift registers. DACs, ADCs, Sample and hold circuits. Semiconductor memories.

  • Microprocessor (8085)
  • Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) Systems
  • Communications
  • Electromagnets
