What are Valid GATE Exam Scores and Validity Period?

Chandigrah : Gate exam is jointly conducted by the 7 IIT’s (Roorkee, Madras, Kharagpur, Kanpur, Guwahati, Delhi, Mumbai) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The Organizing Institute is accountable for the management and end-to-end procedure of the gate exam. For GATE 2015, IIT Kanpur is the Organizing Institute. The exam of GATE 2015 will be held in the afternoon and forenoon sessions on every alternate weekend in between 31st January 2015 and 14th February 2015.

The scores of gate 2015 exam will remain valid for 3 years. This will certainly enable graduate engineers aiming for admission to master’s degree programs acquires more work experience after finishing their bachelor’s degree.

With GATE scores valid just for 2 years until now, students was able to do a job for only one year after graduation and afterwards go for an M.Tech course. An applicant who wished to work for 2 years to pay back a loan taken prior to admission to graduation was not been able to do it till now as his GATE score was valid for 2 year only thus, this modification in guideline will certainly offer them versatility.

The validity of gate scores for 2 years ratings was a restrictive attribute for students who wished to do their MTech after acquiring significant work experience of at least two years. Majority of companies have a probation duration of one year. Thus, students are supposed to do job for one more year to obtain experience. Companies also want students to have at least 2 years of market experience. Now, students will certainly get a chance to get more than a year of industrial direct exposure and afterwards sign up with the M.Tech course

After results have been declared, only those applicants can download GATE Scorecards whose marks are higher than or equivalent to the certifying mark for their categories. GATE 2015 Committee will decide those qualifying marks. Qualifying marks will be changed every year thus candidates who get some score in first year should check it with the applying year qualifying marks. If they are more than the qualifying marks of that year, then only they are valid scores.
