Should I go for M.Tech in avg. College or repeat GATE and try for IITs?

Chandigarh: With the lower rank, one can get into a local average college. There are several colleges that provide with the M.Tech through which you can get a master’s degree. If you require a master’s degree to apply for certain jobs, then go to such colleges.


However, There Are Some Reasons Why Each One Wants To Get Into IIT’s:

1. Brand Name: Being an IItian is indeed a matter of pride. One feels delighted to tell everyone that they study at IIT on being asked from where you are getting your master’s degree. Most of the students append iit to their email ids or post a picture of them standing in front of the IIT building after joining IIT.

2. Placement: You have an assured placement in a core department not just in IT but also in other service sectors. This scenario would not be same with the Local College.

3. The Quality Of Education:  Most important factor why every student wants to get into IIT is the quality of education provided by the institute. The qualification, projects, and the research publication pages of the faculties in the department pages of any IIT is the enough to clear all the doubts. Most importantly, this would not even exist in most of the local colleges.

4. Infrastructure, Labs And Other Facilities: In these institutes, you are assured to get the top-notch facilities available in the country. 

5. The Peer Group:  If you are joining for Mtech in IIT, you must be on the top of the GATE rank list and so must be the other students studying amongst you. Therefore, you would get to learn with the group of people who are as interested as you are on pursuing higher education and would have worked hard enough to secure the top rank. Where else you would very well be aware of the type of crowd in the local college.
