GATE- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all India level entrance examination for higher studies in engineering. It is being conducted mainly by the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) once in a year.

Chandigarh: You will be amazed to know that every year more than five lakhs students appear for gate exam, but out of those only 15% of the students clear this exam.

Every year the seven IITS (Roorkee, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Madras, Guwahati) and IISC jointly organise the gate exam. A zonal gate office at these centres carry out the operations related to the gate exam. Every year one institute out of these eight is responsible for organising the exams and coordinating with other institutes.


Go Through These 6 Points For Any Reference And Clarification About Gate Exam. 

1. All the 22 papers conducted in this exam are computer-based test. Candidates need to use a virtual keyboard for answering the numerical questions in the exam. Rest of the questions are multiple-choice question.   
2. Gate exam will be held in weekend between 31 Jan to 14 Feb and there will be two sessions on the exam day. One before the noon i.e. between 9am-12pm and one after the noon i.e. from 2 pm to 5 pm. 
3. The Complete process is computerised and there would be no hard copy acceptance at the zonal office. Uploading of certificates, application forms and other documents can be done though GOAPS. 
4. You can make the payment for the gate exam through various sources like through net banking, e-challans, credit cards or through gate online portal. 
5. You can also download the admit cards for the exam through the online portal of the gate exam.
6. The validity of gate exam for the year 2015 will be for 3 years i.e., until 2018.
