Chandigarh: For any offline GATE examinations that are conducted in any centre, the candidate will not have the alternative to leaving the examination hall at any time. When the test commences, the invigilator will make certain announcements that are to be followed right till the end. If the candidate wishes to leave the premises, he or she has to do so right before the exam commences.
Candidates are permitted to leave the examination hall before the Optical Response Sheet known as the ORS is distributed. When the sheet lands on your desk, you are set on the timeline to complete it. You will only be allowed to leave the premises when the authorized person in the room collects the sheet at the end of the day.
All the details of the candidate will be thoroughly checked and compared at the beginning and at the end as well. The collected sheet will be accounted for the presence of the candidate and failed to be present at all time, he will be disqualified. As far as the online GATE examination is concerned, the candidates will not be permitted to leave the hall for any reason.
When the test commences on the online web portal, the time each student gets is limited. It is therefore imperative to stick to the given guidelines for the online test. The candidate will not get a chance to leave the lab for any purpose. If it is necessary to leave, he will have to submit a necessary and valid reason for the same. In case of emergency, they will be permitted to leave the hall or lab. At such times, the chances are that they will be disqualified or barred from the examination. The scheduled date and time has to be followed at every designated centre of examination.
