The Eligibility Criteria To Seek Admission In NITs or IITs:
Chandigarh: The eligibility criteria to get into the IITS or NIT is to have a first class or 60% in graduation (B.E./B. Tech). So if you have an Average Percentage of 60 in engineering, you can apply for the Master’s in the IITs or NIT’s, and if not then you are not eligible to get admission there. Whereas the category the candidate belongs to is also important as different category candidates have different requirement to get the admission in IITs. The open and OBC category applicants must have 60%, and the SC and ST must have a minimum of 55%.
However to seek admission in the IIT and NIT one must score high in the GATE exams as the admission is based on the GATE score. Your graduation score does not make much difference thereby. If you are eligible, then appear for the GATE test and obtain the highest score so that you can take admission in IIT or NIT.
The GATE test is mainly to test the inclusive understanding of various subjects of the science and engineering. There are several coaching institutes that guide and provide assistance to the students to prepare for the GATE test.
One can prepare for the exams by self-studying, but joining a coaching class can benefit in various ways. The trainers in the coaching class experts in the field and aware of the paper pattern and different aspects related to the test.
